Mary Caryer

Mary Caryer passed away peacefully last Tuesday afternoon, in the quiet comfort of her immediate family.

Mary was a performer and most importantly the Chair of the theatre for many years. She was one of those rare people whose contribution to a community becomes woven so tightly into its fabric that it is hard to imagine the place without them.

Her long-standing commitment to the Arden Theatre was not simply a matter of volunteering her time; it was an expression of who she was. She believed in the power of theatre to bring people together, to lift spirits, to offer escape, to prompt thought, and to create belonging. And she poured herself into that belief with a quiet, unwavering dedication.

Over the years, Mary became a familiar and much-loved figure at the theatre—reliable, warm, gracious, and endlessly supportive. Her kindness created a sense of community that lives on in the walls of the Arden.

Her legacy of commitment, reliability, and steady support remains with us. At the Arden Theatre, where she invested so much of her time and energy, her influence will continue to be evident in the work we do, the people she supported, and the community she helped to shape.

Rest in peace Mary.
